The West Michigan Cisco User Group (WMCUG) is a non-profit, independent users group which is dedicated to the open exchange of information in the fields of internetworking and the advanced technologies that support the business goals of an organization. Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month. 350+ membership. Average of 50-70 people attending each month.First meeting was held in Feburary, 2008. Served on the Leadership Board since its founding. Was the lead Network Engineer for the MMPC medical group during the merger into the Spectrum Health hospital system in 2009.Supported the existing MMPC network infrastructure while enabling full convergence of network resources for both companies.Responsible for securing and configuring network perimeters using Cisco and CheckPoint equipment.

- Responsible for entire network infrastructure operations for the largest medical group in Michigan with over 37 remote sites, 3 main campus buildings, and 1,500 employees.- Design, configure, and deploy all routers, firewalls, switches, and wireless devices for the entire corporation.- Lead Network Engineer in implementing a Juniper "Intrusion Detection and Prevention" (IDP) security monitoring and protection system.- Responsible for investigating and mitigating all Security Incidents and reporting findings to management. - Designed, configured, coordinated, and successfully executed the largest core network infrastructure upgrade in the company’s history in preparation for the installation of an EPIC EMR clinical system.- Created a fully redundant core network with multiple 6500, 4500, and 4000 series switches and 7200 series routers.- Designed and planned a phased migration from Novell e-Dir architecture to Microsoft AD.- Engineered a unique multi-site server clustering environment using VLANs and interface "teaming" to ensure maximum server uptime and availability.- Evaluated, designed, and implemented a comprehensive Meru wireless solution of 150 Wireless APs, 30 remote wireless controllers, and 2 primary redundant controllers.
