Carry out investigations into suspicious incidents, individuals, and situations that are crucial to the defense of the United States. The Air Marshal Service serves as the final line of defense against aircraft hijackings both within the United States and on internationally operated U.S.-flagged air carriers. Air Marshals discreetly blend in with passengers and perform their duties independently, without direct supervision during missions. They are held to the highest marksmanship standards of all federal services.
