During the summer of 1998, when I took my first climb into the symbolic purple truck of the Gentle Giant Moving Company, I thought I knew what I was in for. The long, hot days, the physically tiring moves each day, and meeting new, unique customers every day became second nature to me throughout the summer. Yet, Gentle Giant became more than simply a summer job during that time; I began to relish the long hours and new relationships with clients. Although I had to return to Cork Institute of Technology to finish my degree in Business Studies, I knew that Gentle Giant in Boston would eventually become my home. True to my word, I returned to Gentle Giant in 2000 with a renewed sense of vigor and determination to not only push myself, but to make sure that Gentle Giant steadily improved. I began working as crew chief with the goal to consistently provide clients with the best experience during this hectic time, and to guarantee that the employees under me were treated with respect. No job was too small, nor was any task impossible. I knew that Gentle Giant could evolve into an amazing, nationally renowned company due to the way it respected its employees and clients alike. In 2001, the company hired me full time, and I began my mission to improve the company’s reputation and recognition nationwide. After working another year in the Gentle Giant system, I was given the incredible opportunity to become the manager of our Somerville branch. This took one small step in the right direction as Gentle Giant traveled down the road to nationwide locations. Through hard work, dedication to the brand, and maintaining our quality of service to our clients and employees: we eventually branched out. In 2015, I graciously took the opportunity to manage the Seattle location.
