I believe all students are capable of learning.I have sixteen years of experience as an English/ Language Arts teacher in public high schools east of Pittsburgh, PA. I am interested in teaching with technology and preparing students for work and study in the 21st century.I am an active volunteer with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Student Visionaries of the Year program and serve as the regional Leadership Chair for the Student Visionaries of the Year program.I achieved Board Certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in Adolescent/ Young Adult English Language Arts and use the process of reflection that I developed while achieving Board Certification as one of my most important classroom responsibilities.I have represented my school district at conferences and at the state level by presenting Model Lessons regarding teaching poetry with classroom technology in Hershey, PA and again in Harrisburg, PA. I was also selected as a Keystone: Technology Integrator (now Keystone STAR) and attended the Summit. I use the knowledge gained and connections made to better incorporate technology in my classroom.I served as an adjunct instructor at Point Park University for three years and have experience teaching composition and literature to both traditional undergraduate students and adults with dignity and respect.I am always looking for progress.Specialties:- Building a healthy rapport and encouraging the best from my students- Making literature relevant with students and developing critical skills that are beneficial across careers. - Teaching with technology
