I can also recommend the products that would suit their needs based on the information they have given me. This role helps to sharpen my communication skills to ensure that I get everything across in the best possible manner. Additionally, it enhances my interpersonal skills as I get exposed to different types of people. Also, at times I have acted as a delivery driver and personally delivered the products myself.

Here I had many duties. Primarily I advise customers on which mobile phone they should buy and whether it should be on a contract or a different payment plan. This involves listening to customer queries and understanding their needs before advising them on what I think is best. This skill is transferable to other areas of work. However there is much more to the job than just selling. Presentation is key in order to make the department look tidy and organised, whilst familiarising yourself with the rest of the store in order to be equipped if you are called upon. I also dealt with deliveries and made sure that the store had been given the right products.

In this role I have had the chance to experience what the day to day life of a solicitor is like. I have sat in on and participated in client meetings, as I helped think of the best possible course of action based on their circumstances. This has been an invaluable experience in which I have learned a lot. Also, getting to speak with experienced solicitors about how they got to where they are and the difficulties they faced has been very eye opening. I have also seen all the departments and been able to see all the different work that gets done. This has only furthered my knowledge of the Legal Profession.

This role saw me unpacking deliveries onto the shelves to make sure they were ready to be bought by customers. It also involved stock management as there were specific protocols to follow when all of they products could not go out onto the shelves. I undertook this role during COVID, so there was also a lot of cleaning duties around the store. This was to make sure customers felt safe coming into the shop.

In my time at School I went on work experience to Saffron Solicitors. This proved to be very successful as they were impressed by my ambition and drive, not to mention my knowledge of the legal profession at such a young age. This led to me helping assist a fee earner on a barrister’s brief aged 15. The solicitors also wrote me a letter of recommendation and in that letter also commended me for assisting them on the brief. This exposure at such a young age helped me understand from early what was required to succeed in this industry.
