Integrated Arts Project Coordinator
CurrentThe coordinator is a talented teaching artist at The Integrated Arts Project (IAP) at MS 50 El Puente Community School. They create curriculum and facilitate multiple IAP arts classes in Theater, Media Arts, and Performing Arts.The IAP is El Puente's signature arts for social change integrated project-based model that was developed in the El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice, which opened in 1993 as one of the first New Vision schools in NYC and the first public school for Human Rights in the nation. IAP engages students in a dynamic, in-depth learning process from which teachers and artists develop integrated lesson plans focused on sequentially developed skill-building activities, 1-on-1 mentoring, and community-driven projects that are aligned with New York State and City learning standards for the arts and Common Core learning standards. • Partner with the Community School Director to recruit teachers to partner with for IAP.• Create an arts-based curriculum with partner teachers and daily lesson plans that align with the academic curriculum.• Collaborate and plan with partner academic teacher every week• Facilitate arts-based lessons that focus on foundations/techniques of Theater, Media Arts, Performing Arts (Dance/Movement included) and/or Music Production that integrate academic themes and social justice issues.• Coordinate exhibition pieces for Winter & Spring showcases, and/or seasonal, theme-based events.• Attend regular staff and supervision meetings & participate in staff development training.
