Supported resource consent applications. - Engaged with project stakeholders and liaised with regulatory authorities.Achievements: - Led Aurecon field and reporting teams across all NZ offices in a high-sensitivity multi-consultancy project for New Zealand Defence Force as well as a long-running upgrade programme for Chorus.- Gained a working understanding of New Zealand’s RMA, NES-CS, and regional plans.- Regularly contributed to construction management and erosion and sediment control plans.- Project sites included military facilities, transport infrastructure (rail, road, cycleway), petroleum storage facilities, and various commercial/industrial facilities. - Trained/mentored junior staff across NZ offices and regularly contributed to internal technical training seminars.- Implemented software for contaminated land-specific site data and worked with the wider ground engineering team to improve reporting efficiencies.

I spent over two years as an environmental consultant at WSP with a particular interest in undertaking detailed risk assessments and developing remediation strategies. At WSP I added to the contaminated land experience I gained at Celtic Technologies. Projects I have been involved with include many multi-use urban sites, two timber treatment sites, landfill sites, a metal finisher, a chloralkali works, and a solvent recycling facility. I have taken several of these projects from initial assessment through to remediation.In addition to project-related work, I assisted the development of field data collection and field/laboratory data management and analysis systems as well as the integration of these systems with our GIS programs. As the regional (Manchester, Leeds, and Newcastle) representative for the WSP data tools, I provided training and support to colleagues to aid adoption and integration of the systems.

I performed a variety of roles at Celtic. On site I gained experience implementing an environmental monitoring program as well as setting up, operating, and maintaining various technologies for soil and groundwater remediation. These included high vacuum extraction and water treatment systems (including air sparging and supersaturated water injection), free product recovery systems, and chemical oxidation. I also have experience with both in-situ and ex-situ bioremediation as well as stabilisation.I supervised trial pitting and borehole advancing, undertaken sampling methods and logging in accordance with BS 5930. I carried out a range of water, soil, and vapour monitoring techniques.I also gained experience in the production of tenders and the writing of a variety of reports from proposals to validation reports.Experience included work on former chemical works (chlorinated solvents), former gas works (coal tar), operating manufacturing facility (chlorinated solvents), former paint works (heavy metals, asbestos, PAH), sewage works (heavy metals).

I assisted in the review and organization of data related to the remediation of former manufactured gas plant (gas works) site acquired through previous mergers and acquisitions. In doing so, I gained an understanding of human health and environmental risks posed by hydrocarbons. Additionally, I learned about a range of applicable remediation techniques. Some of these included on-site ex-situ thermal desorption, steam injection and vapour recovery, and off-site incineration in coal furnaces.
