J. David Armstrong, Jr. is a higher education consultant, international educator, investor, board member, and philanthropist. Currently living and working in Vietnam, he is Senior Vice President with the EQuest Education Group, a board member and/or investor in CRCC Asia and Virtual Internships, which provide students with internships worldwide; The Dragon Trip and The Learning Adventure, providing educational and travel adventures for students and schools in Asia and Europe; president, co-founder of Ivy Global School; an investor with Ascend Vietnam Ventures, early-stage venture capital for Vietnamese companies; and an investor with Skill Struck, online computer science programs for schools. He is president emeritus, retired, of Broward College, one of the largest and most diverse institutions in America, serving 60,000 students across 11 campuses and centers in South Florida. Under his leadership, Broward College was ranked among the top community colleges in the country with special recognition for work on student success. Prior to his 11 years as Broward president, he was Chancellor of the Florida State College System.He is past chair of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Six Pillars Economic Program, previously Co-Chair of the Broward Business Council for Homelessness, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Broward, and previously the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) -- Fulbright Scholar Program. He is a past chairman of Leadership Florida and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, Broward County’s economic development organization. He has been an Executive Search Consultant for the Association of Community College Trustees, assisting boards in recruiting and selecting CEOs, and with numerous organizations for talent/leadership development.He has been recognized for his work as a business community leader, receiving recognition including the 2018 “South Florida Business Journal Ultimate CEO” Award, Leadership Broward Foundation “Profiles in Leadership” award, South Florida Business Journal “Diamond CEO Award,” recognized as a South Florida Business Journal “Power Leader,” one of Gold Coast Magazine’s “50 Most Powerful People in Broward County,” and the 2017 Hall of Fame Honoree by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.His philanthropy work focuses on education, youth, and children issues, supporting funds at Broward College, Make-A-Wish, and Duc Son Pagoda Orphanage in Vietnam.
