Mr. Erickson has a unique combination of skills and experience across the fields of energy and environmental policy and high tech product engineering. He is a thought leader, systems thinker, visionary and pragmatic realist. He has a deep understanding of the relationship of energy to society and the environment, across the energy value chain. Mr. Erickson is currently working on developing strategies, programs and study activities to support distributed energy resources in New Hampshire Electric Cooperative. He has lead teams of experts to model the physics and economics of power systems that provide clean energy at the lowest cost and environmental impact. He is steeped in business startup culture from decades in Silicon Valley. As a manager with P&L responsibility, and an analyst, he has worked in distributed renewable energy planning, analysis and policy, smart grid policy and planning, microgrid development, and strategy development for the utility of the future. He has headed consulting projects in energy storage, microgrids and evaluation of the economics and technical impacts of intermittent and distributed renewables on the grid. His engagements have included distributed energy strategy, electricity storage, integrated resource planning, wholesale market analysis and production cost modeling. He served in the Energy Division of the California Public Utilities Commission where he conducted proceedings on distribution resources planning, cybersecurity, and demand response microgrids/smart grid. He designed and directed studies on greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies and technologies in the electricity, natural gas and transportation sectors. He started his career as a software development engineer, working on new product development, systems design, and contract embedded system programming.
