Software Engineering. Some people think it's straight up wizardry. While it's true that I have the ability to make people's eyes glaze over with a few incantations (most notably extended relations who ask me what I do for a living), the reality is that most of what I do is a combination of puzzle solving and creative thinking. Writing code (aka magic runes) is just a side-effect.The way I see it, my job is to get to know people's problems more intimately than they do. To bring my experience solving similar problems to bear. And, finally, to offer relief and enlightenment. In that sense, you could say that I'm more of a technical counselor than a programmer. I don't offer magic bean soup. I offer hope, confidence and peace. At least, that's my goal.
