About Josh Goldstein
Hi! I'm Josh. I'm a 3D creator with unique experience in the design and development of software, architecture, and products. I'm currently at Autodesk building the next generation of powerful 3D modeling, visualization, and analysis software for architects and designers everywhere. In the software world, I collaborate with full-stack development teams to build new capabilities for Autodesk 3D modeling platforms including FormIt and Forma. With strong product sense and customer empathy, I curate development efforts based on feedback, test the software from a customer perspective, and contribute directly to our products by writing code, authoring documentation/marketing materials, and building sample datasets. In the architecture world, I led design teams, managed clients, and executed projects that connected people and places. I've worked with real estate developers, architecture firms, and freelance designers for over a decade, creating high-quality projects ranging from architecture and urban planning to furniture and products. In my free time, I'm working to preserve architectural history through technology. I created The Cinderella City Project, which combines my skills in 3D modeling and software development to create an interactive, historically-accurate simulation of a now-demolished mid-century modern shopping center known as Cinderella City in Englewood, Colorado. I'm also the Secretary of Historic Englewood, a 501(c)(3) historic preservation society, where I've modernized communication and collaboration through technology and automation.
Listed skills include Sketchup, Grasshopper, Architectural Design, Adobe Creative Suite, and 11 others.

Creator
CurrentDocumenting and digitally rebuilding Cinderella City Mall, a 1.5-million square-foot mixed-use shopping center in Englewood, Colorado, which was built in 1968 and demolished in 1998.Cinderella City was a "city under a roof" - a mixed-use development 30 years before that term was in vogue. It was a quirky mid-century design that featured retail, offices, civic and scholastic uses in one 68-acre site. Facing changing demographics and strong local competition, it closed in 1997 and became one of the nation's first transit-oriented developments in 1998. Seeing this mall getting demolished at that time stunned me into a career of architecture and 3D modeling. The Cinderella City Project brings my interest and skills full-circle, using Autodesk FormIt and Unity to re-create the mall in stunning detail. The simulation features shoppers, muzak, accurate historic signage and geometry, along with the ability to time-travel between two distinct eras (1968 and 1988) to visualize how retail design trends changed.
Creator
Designed, fabricated, and shipped a variety of 3D-printed products for the home and office which were sold at the I Heart Denver store in Denver, Colorado.Products ranged from decorative, like the Denver Cityscape, to useful, like the pen and sponge holders, to the novel, like the Advanced Planter, which encouraged plant growth with a double-walled aeration system. The 3D designs were entirely parametric and treated like software, with each having a semantic version and associated Grasshopper script, so that any completed products found in the wild could be traced back with a specific revision history.
Associate
Executed thoughtful designs, interfaced with clients, and led teams across a wide spectrum of project types, including mixed-use developments, adaptive reuse, multifamily, hospitality, and retail. Advised firm leadership on technology trends and procurement, including the introduction of cutting-edge parametric modeling software to more quickly create, test, and refine design concepts.Championed office culture, innovation, and sustainability initiatives.
3D Model Artist
Developed extensive computer-generated 3D models for a number of residential remodels/new construction projects. Models included site, topography, landscape, architectural details, lighting, entourage.
Assistant Project Manager, Design Intern
Assisted and reported to senior management during design and construction of a $270 million, 76 acre, outdoor lifestyle center with one million square feet of retail, 140,000 square feet of office space, and 200 luxury apartments.Developed 3D architectural study models, exhibits, construction progress diagrams, and created marketing materials and graphics for corporate website and CenterBuild conferences.Oversaw building demolition and abatement of asbestos-containing and regulated building materials. Managed and ensured site contractor's compliance with Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control regulations. Supervised construction of a residential sales and marketing center and its conversion to a construction and development office with conference rooms, offices, and plan storage.
