Starting in 2019, I grew our Home Services engineering team from 2 engineers to 20 engineers over two years. During that time, I was a key member of our leadership team and worked directly with our former VP of Renovations. Our software enabled us to scale from sub-$1M/year to $110M/yr run rate before the decision was made to shutter the Properties group at Redfin in late 2022.As part of the 2022 strategy cycle, I worked directly with our vendor operations team to identify how best to grow our vendor marketplace capabilities to support 10x our current scale. We were unable to execute against these plans due to market conditions.In addition to my Home Services responsibilities, during this time I directly led the effort to complete 50 isolated services. We successfully accomplished our goal of 50 services by Q3 2022 providing a new foundation for how software is built at Redfin.

I joined Redfin in June of 2019 as a senior software engineer for the newly formed Home Services engineering team; two months later, I pivoted back into leadership and accepted an engineering manager role.

Robin Autopilot offered robotic lawn care services. It’s like Roomba, but for your yard.Prior to Robin’s pivot into robotic lawn care, Robin built a marketplace for weekly recurring lawn services. We provided recurring service using contractors (providers) to our customers.I was fortunate to join after Robin’s Series A, when I was brought in to level up their software engineering department. After pivoting from weekly lawn services into robotic lawn mowing, then eventually into franchising robotic lawn mowing, Robin was a wonderful learning experience.Robin was acquired in April of 2019.

Recurrency was a recurring crowd funding site where supporters give money to creators they love every week, instead of just once. I was grateful to partner with co-founder Brian Alvey, a long time internet entrepreneur and mentor of mine, on Recurrency.We raised over $2M from investors such as Jason Calacanis, Mark Cuban and more. Evomail was modern mobile email. I started this company with a vision to ”fix email”, since at the time 70% of the work week for a knowledge worker was spent processing their inbox. We had 6 full-time employeesAfter raising $250,000 from various investors, we eventually pivoted into a white labeled email solution with clients such as Yandex, Inc. Ultimately, Evomail was not viable as a sustainable business and its assets were acquired in 2015 by AtMail, Inc.

Oversaw all company functions starting with only an idea and going from Zero to One.After a successful app launch and surviving two pivots, we found product market fit and absolutely dominated the consumer push notification messaging market. At our peak we had over 1.5 monthly active users and delivered more than 3 billion push notifications.Boxcar was the first iOS app to deliver real-time push notifications for Gmail, Twitter and Facebook -- before any of their own native apps did! Slowly, Apple built our features piece by piece into iOS. In response, we created a marketplace for push notification subscriptions, a B2B2C play, to provide push notification services for various apps at a time when app developers didn’t have the infrastructure to create their own notification systems.This B2B2C pivot allowed us to build a sustainable business before being acquired in July 2012 by Kwaga, Inc. (TechCrunch acquisition article), providing a 4x return for our investors.
