I returned to SpryWare as an engineer in June, 2013 as a Senior Software Engineer, primarily focused on improving the performance of our existing market data plant, and developing new feed handlers.In early 2014, SpryWare was acquired by Pico Quantitative Trading and in August, I was elevated to Director of Engineering for the Chicago office. As part of the Pico company, we are focused on the development of our next-generation market data plant, with drastically improved performance and scalability, smaller hardware footprint, and new benchmarks in low latency. As Director of Engineering, I am building our team of expert engineers so that we can accomplish even more.

I learned quickly, absorbing everything I could find from those around me, from books and school, and other programmers.By the time MicroHedge was bought by SunGard, I was already a team leader working on large swaths of code in every area of the system.Before long I moved up to Development Manager, where I spearheaded the entire development group for our main product. I was also a mentor to newbie programmers not unlike myself just a few short years back, the go-to for production issues, and the lead engineer.During this period, I also wrote and published several articles in C/C++ User's Journal and Dr. Dobb's. Ran the kitchen on a day-to-day basis including dinner service, staff management & scheduling, inventory control, menu planning and budgeting.While in this position, I wrote automated inventory management software by bending Lotus 123 to my will on the computer in Chef's office. This software not only maintained inventory, but also connected to suppliers' infrastructure via 2400 baud modem, downloaded costs, and kept track of ever-important food cost in real time.
