I'm a past member of the Private Company Council (PCC), which advises the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on changes and improvements to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in the United States. I'm also a past member of the AICPA Accounting and Review Services Committee (ARSC) and Technical Issues Committee (TIC). - ARSC issues the Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services (SSARS), which are the rules and practice guidance all CPAs must follow when performing a review, compilation, or preparation service for financial information. - TIC advocates for accounting firms and their clients in the standard-setting process with the FASB, GASB, PCC, ASB, ARSC, and PEEC. TIC reviews drafts of accounting and professional standards, provides feedback directly to the authors, and seeks to improve the final rules that impact all businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and governmental entities.
