Helped on several urban design projects in the Changzhou region. The design of a new kindergarten, the conversion of an old paint factory into a creative business park, the revitalization of a rural village on the urban periphery, and the development of a new shopping district on an empty parcel of land. I had to take part in meetings with developers and government officials then work together with my team to come up with proposals. It was a valuable experience seeing firsthand the urban planning profession in China.

Suzhou, Jiangsu, China

I participated in the 2019 CRRC (the largest rolling stock manufacturer in the world) International Talent Development Programme. This programme was designed between IBSS and CRRC Corporation Limited, with all of the participants coming from various subsidiaries from all over China. I supported lectures and prepared classrooms, ensuring the supreme studying environment for all of the participants and being an excellent teaching assistant to all of the professors. Moreover, I devoted my own time and materials to develop the content for the English Corner activities, and this work as being an English teacher was recognized by the participants. This internship was a great experience for future career development in that it gave me vital business connections within the railway industry in China.

Hong Kong

I taught full time at this center in the downtown area. Many businesspeople would come in the evening for language classes. They needed help with Business English skills for presentations, writing emails, negotiations and so on. During the daytime, some of their family members and/or children would come to the center for classes. I also led weekly “coffee corners” for students to enjoy a more casual learning environment.

Shenzhen, Guangdong, China

Business English training at Belle Footwear Inc., China National Off-shore Oil Company (CNOOC), Ruide Electronics, and Mophie Designs. I also led private VIP courses (one-on-one training for student preparing for university), activity courses, and social talking/conversation classes of up to thirty students.

I taught Spoken English to College students aging from 17 to 20 for three semesters. I had on average nine classes a week with 45 students in each. This does not include the time I spent tutoring on the weekends and also informal gatherings during weeknights called "English Corner," where students could join together in enjoyable discussions and fun activities. I also participated in many school organized debates and speech events as a judge and official questionnaire.

My group and I were contracted to do work with various state and federal agencies. We conducted a stream rehabilitation project for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) field office in Rawlins, Wyoming and also performed maintenance on gage houses for the State Engineers Office. I also worked with the WY Game and Fish Department and gained more experience in Hydrology and watershed/stream management.

Achieved a higher knowledge of ArcGIS and computer-related skills for regional and statewide projects. Organization of databases using Microsoft Excel was essential to maintain proficiency. It was vital to communicate clearly and effectively with other workers in the office in order to finish tasks in a timely manner.

I learned how managing work schedules and time in the university environment proves beneficial to both faculty and students. This job enabled the development of strong relationships with professors and a stronger sense of connection with the department itself. I was able to help the professors organize class materials and make photocopies of whatever they needed. Having a job like this gave me the "inside scoop" on subjects being presented in class.
