Participates in the administration of the Campus Learning Resources division (library, computer courtyard, tutoring labs). Camner Academic Resource Center

Responsibilities in this position include supervision of 130 student workers, 2 graduate assistants and 1 full time coordinator; human resource management; budget and account expenditures; marketing and recruiting tasks; program policy development and evaluation. Duties include adhering and complying with various human resource/academic regulations for international and local students throughout their hiring, training, tutoring, appraisal, payroll and certification processes. Also monitors the delivery and flow of quality tutoring services for over 850 UM students on a daily basis in order to enhance student academic performance and positively affect retention. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates program support systems, methods, and vendor services; makes recommendations as appropriate for enhancement or change. Assists director with strategic planning by generating ideas, conducting research, and facilitating implementation of policies for Peer Tutoring Program. Provides director with a comprehensive yearly report summarizing tutoring statistics, usage, demographic information, and other essential program components. Develops and implements a marketing plan for recruitment and retention of underrepresented student tutor populations by disseminating various promotional and media forms; interfaces with other departments for participation in fairs, workshops, and orientations; and establishes effective communication/collaborates with faculty regarding review sessions for students. Also assists in web-based social media outputs and electronic correspondence for marketing and recruitment purposes.

Camner Academic Resource Center

Responsibilities include a broad spectrum of course/program planning, assessment and implementation of appropriate research-based interventions, as well as research, development, and presentation duties within the university. Primary duties include coordinating the Advanced Academic Mentors tutoring program which entails supervising and training graduate assistants, assigning and monitoring case loads and schedules, collecting and reviewing student records, updating learning strategy instruction resources, monitoring database, maintaining presentations for student workshops, as well as implementing academic support services for students. Also assists director with specific research projects by generating ideas and assessing existing programs in order to support and enhance student learning, facilitates implementation of existing programs, co-teaches an undergraduate freshman experience course (UMX 110) and provides support to the Office of Disability Services and Academic Resource Center when needed.

Provided in-home and off-site intervention services to children ages birth to 5 with a visual impairment that impeded their ability to function independently and learn incidentally through vision, as well as collaborated with professionals in order to tailor intervention plans. Specific services included tactile and sensory integration, conducted child vision assessments, parent training and community resource education to support skills development, self help and compensatory skills training and/or adjustment to blindness techniques, as well as lead structured play groups for children and families of culturally diverse populations.
