Energy Efficiency Office
Focusing on areas where growth and development is occurring, we facilitate the creation of community energy plans in order to identify opportunities to improve energy performance, contribute to local economic development and strengthen resilience. We work with community planners, developers, utilities and various local organizations to incorporate community energy policies into area plans.
As a student in the Urban Planning stream within the Master of Environmental Studies program at York University, I focused on opportunities to integrate energy planning and urban development in Ontario. Recently, I successfully defended my Major Research Project, "Advancing District Energy in Ontario's Urban Municipalities: Lessons Learned from Planning for the Expansion of the Keele Campus District Energy Network". In this project, I analyzed the opportunity to expand the district energy network at York University's Keele Campus and used lessons learned to inform municipal district energy development in Ontario.
