As a senior software engineer, my primary responsibly is to enhance and maintain CA Explore Performance Management for z/VSE.During my first year, I completed an enhancement, APAR LU14922 Report Writer CSV Output Support, that allow customers to produce a CSV disk file containing a tabular report. This reduces the effort required to import tabular report results into a spreadsheet.

As a senior software engineer, my primary responsibly was to enhance and maintain Vanguard ez/Token.Vanguard ez/Token provides multi-factor authentication for IBM System Z applications. Vanguard ez/Token communicates with multi-factor authentication services such as ActivID, DUO, LinOTP, PingID, PIVCard, and RSA SecureID. Vanguard ez/Token also supports the RADIUS protocol and Vanguard proprietary passcode methods.Most recently, a colleague and I implemented a new product architecture for Vanguard ez/Token Version 2.4. This new version improves performance and includes support for RACF, ACF2, and Top Secret Security.

As a senior software engineer, I resolved product defects and developed enhancements for the IBM DB2 for z/OS Cloning Tool.During my two years as a cloning tool engineer, I provided enhancements that 1) resolved memory leaks which caused end-of-memory abends, 2) reduced CPU consumption by 60%, 3) implemented media manager services to resolve I/O errors during the log apply processing phase, and 4) developed an overlapped I/O method to achieve CPU bound processing for significant elapsed time reduction.Along with resolving a substantial number of IBM DB2 Cloning Tool defects, I produced an enhancement that provides customers with the option of executing IBM DB2 UNLOAD and LOAD utilities to complete the cloning process for source and target objects with different object attributes. This UNLOAD and LOAD process is performed using the DB2 DSNUTILU stored procedure in a multi-threaded environment.

As a lead software engineer, I resolved product defects and developed enhancements for LOAD PLUS for DB2, UNLOADPLUS for DB2, REORG PLUS for DB2, and CHECK PLUS for DB2.During my employment I received numerous innovation awards and three patents. In 2013, a BMC innovation program reviewed approximately thirty innovations from BMC development organizations. Four of these innovations were selected for further research and development of which two were my own.Some of my more significant development projects included:1) LOB and XML Data Type Support - required significant architectural changes to support multi-threaded LOB and XML extract, transform, and load processes for LOB an XML auxiliary objects. This project also required implementation of HFS and BPAM access methods for referenced file data sources.2). SmartDBA for DB2 Automation Spawner - is a multi-threaded started task that generates, schedules, and executes data management functions on candidate objects during user defined processing windows.3). UNLOAD PLUS for DB2 DIRECT NO Support - required parser enhancements to extract SQL from utility statements, preparation and execution of dynamic SQL, and production of internal row images from fetched rows to allow utility conversion and translation processes to produce unload formatted rows based on field specifications.4). DB2 Version 5 ASCII Server Support ASCII Server Support - required common, extensible, translation services to provide support for data translation integrated within high performance data conversion routines.5). DB2 Version 3 Compression Support - required interfaces to DB2 lempel-ziv compression dictionary build services and integration of data compression and expansion services during utility row processing.

As a Software Analyst for Sterling Software Compression Tools (MVS, DB2, and IMS), I communicated with customers to analyze and resolve product defects. This process involved analyzing dumps, developing code changes, performing quality assurance testing, and recommending changes to publications. I also developed and delivered presentations for customer education.

I was a seven-time rifle expert, a pistol sharp shooter, a two-time battalion high shooter, a rifle range coach, and I maintained a first class PFT during my eight and one half years of service.My Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) were Systems Programmer (4069), ALC Programmer (4065), Data Control Technician (4038), IBM Series/1 EDL Programmer (4066), and COBOL Programmer (4063).As an IBM Series/1 EDL Programmer (4066), I deployed with Communication Company, Combat Service Support Detachment 33 (CSSD-33), 3rd Force Service Support Group (3rd FSSG), Fleet Marine Forces Pacific (FMFPAC), for Team Spirit 83, Pohang, South Korea, February 1983. During the exercise, I operated IBM Series/1 Green Machines producing encrypted messages on paper tape for transmission via satellite.As a systems programmer, I was responsible for mainframe capacity planning, performance and tuning, coding system exits, software installation, and software education.
