John Dougherty has represented business clients including corporations, limited-liability companies, general and limited partnerships, and trusts in all facets of corporate, securities and real estate law for more than 25 years. He has counseled clients including financial institutions, manufacturers and technology-related companies in initial formations, mergers and acquisitions, and dispositions.

  As part of his federal and state securities practices, Mr. Dougherty oversees public offerings and private placements of all types of securities including stock, bonds and partnership interests. His securities background includes compliance issues and tenure as an officer and director of publicly held companies. Mr. Dougherty also represents clients in real estate transactions, including deal structurings, acquisitions and taxable and tax-deferred dispositions, financings, restructurings and workouts. He has considerable experience representing distressed companies and has been able to successfully reorganize and restructure them outside of bankruptcy. Companies involved have been privately and publicly held, and in diverse fields such as publishing, food processing and real estate.
