Currently, I work at the Wake County Public Schools Curriculum Development Department as the Senior Administrator for High School English Language Arts. I work with developing and managing curricula for our high schools across the district. In addition, I support high school literacy coaches and am a trainer for Cognitive Coaching. Prior to working in Academics and Curriculum Development, I worked as a Professional Learning Specialist with the Office of Professional Learning at Wake County Public Schools.Before coming to the Central Office, I was a teacher and assistant principal at Athens Drive High School, I have had the opportunity to experience different facets of high school and educational experiences. Through my work at Athens Drive, I have been fortunate to be able to take on various leadership responsibilities. As a teacher, I was the English Department Chair, the adviser for the nationally award-winning literary magazine, and a teacher-leader for professional development for Quality Tools and for teacher professional development around Marzano strategies. As the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Athens Drive, I was fortunate to be able to work with curriculum alignment, instructional technology, and the development of the STEM Academy. Through my work, I was able to support teachers in understanding the elements of differentiated instruction, working in the structures of professional learning communities, using technology to enhance instruction, and working with engagement strategies for effective curriculum implementation.
