I am currently splitting my time between being a Principal Education Advisor at Education Development Trust (and their Course Director for the NPQEL), being a Senior Advisor for Independent Economics and being a Director of my education consultancy business. I am also a Trustee for Durrington Multi-Academy Trust.Being Course Director for the NPQEL at EDT brings huge responsibility and privilege. This is a British Government funded programme for executive school leaders. I lead the writing, recruitment, delivery and coordination of the 18-month accredited programme to national cohorts of school leaders. My consultancy enables me to stay grounded in education and leadership and work with schools and businesses. I provide coaching, mentoring, consultancy, and bespoke professional learning programmes. I also work in partnership with the Nordic Schools, providing school visits between England and Denmark, and I am the co-founder of the Great Oracy Toolkit - a programme we have delveired to over 300 schools.My core skills and expertise lie in effective system leadership at scale leading to impactful and sustainable improvement. Collaboration, accountability, systems, processes and a focus on people development and professional learning underpin my approach. Drawing from a broad professional background in education I have expertise in both the ‘big picture’ and individual leadership efficacy and being able to communicate with and advise, stakeholders at all levels. I look beyond the headlines, drawing from research and evidence of what might work, and value the importance of contextual, pace-based knowledge.I have a track record of improvement. I have taken a Teaching School Alliance spanning a city of 84 schools, a school-owned community interest company and Local Authority from a position of deficit, limited reach and minimal impact to one of financial surplus and sustainability, high and sustainable impact and both regional reach and national reputation. Attention to detail, challenging behaviours, integrity and transparency, across a complex landscape, were the qualities that I brought to the table. I was elected to represent the southwest on the Teaching School Council’s National Board and, for many years, I was a regional lead for TSC SW, latterly with a focus on research and CPD. I am actively seeking new professional opportunities and will consider contract work.
