JD is the Director of Principal Technologists at Pure Storage, responsible for providing deep technical leadership paired with strategic awareness for our customers and field organization.JD’s 20+ year career began by managing data systems for his alma mater the University of Arkansas and software giant Microsoft. JD left Microsoft in 2012 to join the storage startup community where he continued to work very closely with Microsoft on projects including early storage designs for the Azure cloud, software defined storage, and ultra-high resiliency storage platforms. JD then spent time supporting some of Veeam Software’s largest enterprise deployments. While his time at Veeam was relatively brief it developed in him a passion for modern data protection that continues to be a cornerstone of much of his work today.After joining Pure Storage in 2020, JD began to take on more storage evangelism opportunities, becoming a co-host for The Pure Report podcast, joining the vExpert community, and becoming a regular speaker and blogger on storage and data protection related topics.
