• Meet with civic, educational, and community groups to develop community programs and events, and to discuss law enforcement subjects.• Train staff in proper police work procedures.• Direct collection, preparation, and handling of evidence and personal property of prisoners.• Explain police operations to subordinates to assist them in performing their job duties.• Inform personnel of changes in regulations and policies, implications of new or amended laws, and new techniques of police work.• Requisition and issue equipment and supplies.• Inspect facilities, supplies, vehicles, and equipment to ensure conformance to standards.• Maintain logs, prepare reports, and direct the preparation, handling, and maintenance of departmental records.• Analyze internal processes and recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations.• Gather, analyze, correlate, or evaluate information from a variety of resources, such as law enforcement databases.• Serve as liaisons between students, homes, schools, family services, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and other contacts, to help children who face problems such as disabilities, abuse, or poverty.• Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions.• Work closely with the director of Safe and Secure Schools to plan and implement campus emergency response to all hazards. • Implement and direct table top exercises for campus emergencies using Incident Command Systems.
