Castaway Cay - Bahamas

Recruited to travel overseas and join a highly skilled team of lifeguards from all over the globe living and working on Disney’s private resort island in the Bahamas. Operating as a team on very crowded beaches of families and maintaining a high level of skills through frequent training and enhancing communication skills through constant use at work. Also responsible for many island maintenance jobs, where I put my practical skills to use, on days the cruise ships weren’t docked.

5 years experience of working on some of the UK's busiest beaches as a fully trained RNLI Senior Beach Lifeguard. Operating as a Senior Beach Lifeguard delegating tasks and maintaining situational control of incidents while liaising with Coastguard and Ambulance services gaining invaluable experience working as part of a team under high pressure situations. Dealt with many different types of incidents with yearly renewed first aid skills. These incidents have ranged from breaks and fractures to heat strokes and heat exhaustion. Along with assisting vessels in distress and containment of hazardous waste containers. Performing tube and board rescues for swimmers in trouble and bringing them back to shore safely. Providing important local beach knowledge of dangers to beach users and talk to large groups of school children. Awarded RNLI “Rising Star” achievement in 2015.
