Experienced planning and environmental consultant in private practice for close to 40 years. I also have served as an elected official in local village government with over 35 years of service. Specialties include: project management and administration, grantsmanship, public participation and community outreach, traffic calming initiatives, historic preservation, downtown revitalization, placemaking and beautification projects.I have been performing environmental and transportation planning, with extensive experience assisting public agencies in conducting public involvement on more than two dozen projects. I am currently an Outreach Coordinator (part-time contractor) with Stantec’s Civil group. I worked as the Outreach Coordinator Lead on the Nassau Expressway Operational and Resiliency Improvements. I was previously responsible as a Principal Project Planner leading JAC Planning Corp., a women-owned business enterprise (WBE) I founded in 1985 and ran the business for 28+ years before joining Stantec in 2017. While heading JAC Planning, I was responsible for preparing EIS’s and environmental assessments; SEQR analyses, public participation and community outreach, zoning reviews, site planning efforts, master plans and transportation projects. From 2000 to 2020 I was the Mayor of the Village of Great Neck Plaza, an incorporated village with approximately 7,000 inhabitants. I implemented numerous traffic calming improvements through grants obtained from the New York State Department of Transportation, including a modern roundabout, road diet, curb extensions and bulb-outs, LIRR station improvements and a Transportation Enhancement Project at the U.S.P.S. Main Post Office. I was responsible for writing, obtaining and implementing over $5 million in grants to improve traffic and pedestrian safety during my tenure.
