A strong track record in the media industry in N.Ireland and ROI spanning over 30 years. Jean worked for Morton Newspapers for 16 years, before being headhunted by Derry Journal Newspapers in 1992.Jean grew the portfolio of titles with a new launch and oversaw a six fold increase in advertising revenues. Jean was closely involved in the successful acquisition of the Donegal titles in 1995. In 1997 Jean was appointed General Manager of Derry Journal Newspapers incorporating Donegal Democrat Ltd and led the sale of the business to the Mirror Group in 1998. She was appointed Commercial Director by Trinity Mirror and spent six years in the post.On the sale of the titles from Trinity Mirror in 2004 Jean was appointed Chief Executive of Local Press Limited, thecompany charged with running the business. Jean Long adopted a hands on approach to running the business, wrote and delivered the business plan and the successful strategy implemented by Local Press Ltd and ultimately the successful sale of the titles and websites to Johnston Press plc. Jean has extensive experience in leading sales and editorial teams across a variety of platforms. She has been involved in significant reorganisation of businesses across two jurisdictions.
