Freelance writing and desktop publishing

Solicit family, group and business submissions to an updated history book; conduct interviews as necessary and write submissions for subject's approval; scan and organize photos; edit submissions for clarity, grammar, coherency, and length; liaise between board and printer; lay out final material to camera-ready state for publication in July 2020 in time for 100th Anniversary of the Village of Alberta Beach

Acted as webmaster and web editor; drafted flyers and brochures, arranged for publication of reports and other printed materials, simple desktop publishing, bought necessary swag, project managed board committee

As generalist in almost every civic department, I employed by skills in corporate communications, strategic communications planning, desktop layout, special events planning and implementation, media relations, newsletter writer and editor, brochure and article writer. Each department required a different emphasis.

Solely responsible for all print production and web-based communication. For over two years, I worked with designers and printers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of all marketing and registration requirements, with an on-line mailing list of over 70,000 people. That responsibility extended to the writing of copy for newsletters, brochures and manuals, including the design and production of sport-specific and volunteer newsletters. I was also responsible for every aspect of the website – a key to the success of the Games – liaising with staff and sport volunteers to ensure accurate and proper information; produced most of the many PowerPoint presentations used in promoting and marketing the Games.During the Games themselves, I edited a Daily News for the ten days of the competition, supervising volunteer reporters and photographers and a freelance writer.
