I am currently spending as much time as possible walking in the countryside, including leading walks for my walking group. I am Secretary of Inner London Ramblers. I continue to be interested in all things environmental particularly nature conservation, climate change and sustainable energy.

• Lead the “Hyde Energy Standard” a programme of works on existing stock to raise the minimum SAP to 60 by 2025.• Consult with Development team on sustainability features and community energy in new build stock.• Preparation of reports and procedures including community energy review, CSR report, Hyde Energy Standard, EPC procedure, quarterly sustainability update.• Develop and report on the group’s environmental Key Performance Indicators, (KPI).• Devise the staff awareness campaigns to reduce Hyde’s impact on the environment, energy, waste and transport.• Liaise closely with Stock Investment to guide on sustainability aspects of refurbishment. • Manage the Community Energy Manager and lead on community and renewable energy across the Group.• Formulate and manage a strategy to implement Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations 2014.• Support Procurement through the tender process from writing tender through to selection process and advise on sustainability issues of products and services.• Build partnerships across the Group to ensure Hyde’s impact on the environment is minimised and all staff are involved. • Design the Corporate Social Responsibility report and suite of supporting documents; green travel plan, travel information leaflets, green office standard.

Composed other reports as and when required.• Designed and updated sustainable energy content for website.• Partnership working with other council departments, utility companies, external partners, NHS, government departments.• Maximised external funding for the City, particularly ECO and Green Deal.

• Member of a team responsible for the initiation, development, coordination and preparation of strategies and programmes relating to sustainable development in Greenwich. • Shaped partnerships with other council services, external partners, London wide organisations and government bodies on matters relating to sustainable development. • Provided responses on major planning applications to the Council’s planning department, attended meetings with developers.• Maximised external funding, devised, developed and submitted funding bids and, where appropriate, project managed their implementation with particular emphasis on Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). • Delivered specialist advice on sustainability issues to colleagues across the council’s services and also to partners in the community.• Drafted reports and briefings for Members and senior managers. • Developed housing and sustainability programmes of work, including preparing bids, with an emphasis on Green Deal, Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), wrote briefings on emerging policy and affordable warmth measures.• Promoted sustainable transport in the borough, particularly walking and cycling.

• Pioneered innovative projects, for example Technology Showcases, which were adopted by the Energy Saving Trust advice centres’ nationally. • Co-ordinated a research project for Communities and Local Government into attitudes and potential take up of the Home Information Pack. • Managed outreach personnel (County Managers) based in Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, as well as the Outreach Energy Advisors for these counties. • Staff recruitment, appraisal and performance management.• Organised a bespoke programme for selected local authorities, working with them to reduce energy consumption across all service areas, across the three counties.• Maximised the centre’s relationships with a wide range of partners including local authorities, businesses, education establishments and voluntary organisations, utilising a key account management approach.• Liaised with businesses in the region to develop the supply chain. • Gave presentations to a wide range of audiences. • Prepared and delivered the business and work plans, including financial management. • Created and co-ordinated projects and events promoting sustainable transport.

• Project managed the Flagship House, the sustainable refurbishment of a Victorian property in a conservation area and associated marketing campaign. The project was supported by Energy Saving Trust Innovation funding. It received national attention and featured on Newsnight and in the Guardian. Partners included; Rickaby Thompson Associates, EDF Energy and SE2 Ltd.• Member project team for the west London insulation scheme, partnership working with other London boroughs and voluntary organisations. • Managed and supervised consultants working on projects, including financial management.• Implemented the Housing Health and Safety Rating System; and trained staff members.• Promoted energy efficiency projects and grants across all housing tenures, ethnic groups and social classes. • Raised awareness of sustainable energy amongst school children • Revised and delivered projects within the Affordable Warmth Strategy.
