About Jean Slaughter

Hello and welcome! I am a recent graduate of Barnard College with a degree in English and a minor in Mathematical Sciences. Throughout my studies, I’ve developed an insatiable curiosity for understanding the lineage of literary traditions within marginalized groups. I’ve completed two theses on the subject, as it relates to Zora Neale Hurston and Frances E. W. Harper. As a lover of literature and its culture, I am pursuing a career within the book publishing industry. I am seeking an entry-level editorial or DEI position with imprints of any genre. I have the most professional experience with adult fiction, YA graphic novels, and children’s books, though I am always looking to expand my knowledge of the book world. I appreciate any opportunity to connect with Barnard alums and people in the industry! Reach me at ojs2114@barnard.alum.edu.
