Data Analyst InternInria Jul 2014 - Aug 2014Le Chesnay Cedex, France, FrProject Title: Design and Validation of Fuzzy Logic Systems for Autonomous Vehicles using RTMaps and SimulinkAbstract: This paper describes a fuzzy logic system for autonomous vehicles in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) field. This project focuses on the improvement and validation of a fuzzy logic library designed in C++, using RTMaps as a development platform. Comparisons between RTMaps and Simulink fuzzy logic models were considered to design and validate five types of membership functions -Bell, Gaussian, PI, Trapezoidal, and Triangular-. The implementation of this library was conducted in simulations and real platforms. The results promise good behavior of the fuzzy logic system for its future implementation in real urban scenarios in the framework of the European project CityMobil2.Presentation: August 2014: Ana G. ResearcherUniversidad Del Turabo Jan 2012 - Dec 2012Research Title: Comparison of service reliability metrics on vulnerable stochastic networks.Puplished at the Proceedings of the 2013 Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference A. Krishnamurthy and W.K.V. Chan, eds.Abstract: This paper introduces a new service reliability metric based on service survivability when network components are vulnerable to disruptions. The network service reliability, i.e., its capability of providing service when requested, could be affected by intentional or natural disasters such as earthquakes, storms, terrorist attacks, etc. The proposed metric, termed mean network survivability, is an improvement over the existing reliability efficiency metric because it takes into consideration that nodes may have different service demands and edges may have different operational probabilities. Additionally, to calculate mean network survivability, the authors propose the use of an approximation to the real value of two-terminal reliability that is more accurate than other approximations that use either the most reliable route or lower bounds based on minimal paths, especially when edge operational probabilities are different. The proposed metric is important in characterizing the performance of a network and allows comparison among different topologies. Examples that illustrate the use of the proposed metric and compare it with other service reliability metrics are presented.Research Presentation: •May 2013: Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Annual Conference and Expo 2013•April 2013: XI Encuentro de Investigadores, Gurabo, Puerto Rico

Data AnalystUniversidad Del Turabo Jan 2012 - Mar 2012- Established a factorial analysis of kicking leg, kicking type, and kicking angle on the football player’s accuracy during direct free kicks, in order to determine the most viable player, kicking leg, and kicking techniques to score a goal when a direct free kick occurs during a match. - According to the head football coach from Universidad del Turabo , the experimental results and recommendations where favorable to his decision making process of selecting the player and kick technique to execute free kicks during the matches of the next college football season during the Liga Atlética Interuniversitaria (LAI) of Puerto Rico 2012-2013.Research Title: Factorial analysis of kicking leg, kicking type, and kicking angle on the soccer player’s accuracy during direct free kicks.Research Presentation:•September 2012: CLAIO/SBPO 2012, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil•September 2012: Ana G. Engineering InternNational Center For Atmospheric Research Jun 2011 - Aug 2011Boulder, Colorado, UsResearch Title: Engineering challenges associated with installing surface-based weather instrumentation in remote, mountainous terrain.Abstract: Climate change can have a significant impact on winter precipitation processes, particularly in mountainous regions. Changes to the snowpack and runoff can have serious consequences to the communities downstream that rely on them for their water supply. Climate models are being used to simulate the effects of climate change on the snowpack and runoff over the Rocky Mountain region in western Colorado, but verification of those models is required before results can be trusted. In order to verify the models, accurate surface measurements of temperature, wind speed and direction, pressure, solar radiation and liquid equivalent precipitation must be taken at various points within the model domain. This research project focused on the construction of three instrumentation setups using ETI precipitation gauges (referred to as ETI19, ETI20, and ETI21). The setup included mechanical and electrical engineering tasks as well as programming required for each instrument component. Each setup was tested at NCAR and will ultimately be moved to the Fraser Experimental Forest where they will be used to help with the model verification. A detailed description of the setup will be provided along with a discussion of the engineering challenges faced to prepare each gauge for eventual installation in mountainous terrain.Research Presentation:• January 2012: University of Virgin Islands, St. Thomas • October 2011: SACNAS Conference 2011, San Jose, California • September 2011: Ana G.
