We are a green energy project developer committed to contributing to the energy transition by delivering low carbon and baseload geothermal power at industrial scale by deploying Next Generation Geothermal Power Technologies fused with leading energy project implementation and financing expertise.I am the lead geologist evaluating the subsurface potential for electrical generation using geothermal heat, including hot dry rock technology. I use an oil and gas exploration approach, utilizing 3D and 2D seismic data, drilled wells and well logs, FTG gravity and magnetics, regional geological maps, GIS maps, and additional subsurface data. I currently work Projekt Thermo in the Lower Saxony Basin in Germany, and complete additional screening projects for ZeroGeo.Www.zerogeo.energy
  • C3 Geoscience Consulting
    Principal Geoscientist
    C3 Geoscience Consulting Jul 2021 - Present
Enable exploration companies to utilize the subsurface through detailed seismic stratigraphic analysis. Work with academia and industry to determine ways to utilize sedimentary basins to find innovative geoscience solutions related to renewable energy and carbon storage. Complete high-quality research in the field of clastic sedimentology through detailed field mapping projects. Onward (formerly Studio X) Projects Enstatite, Biotite, Morganite, and Chalcedony: Generated training data for machine learning and AI algorithms by evaluating a 286 km2 3D seismic volume, building a framework interpretation of 30 major faults, 10 survey-wide horizons, and additional key stratigraphic features (rapid turnaround project). Interpreted 40 well logs, selecting end-member lithologies to be used for machine learning training datasets.Basin Experience:Carnarvon Basin, Australia; North Sea; Gulf of MexicoTraining:- AgileMBA through JobHackers - edX: Climate Change; Carbon Capture and Storage- SEG/EAGE Workshop on The Deliberate Search for Stratigraphic Traps- EAGE Geological CO2 Storage Course- SEPM Bouma Conference- EAGE GET (Global Energy Transition) conference
  • Sonoma State University
    Visiting Professor
Sonoma State University Feb 2021 - Apr 2021
Taught Sedimentology and Field Geology courses virtually while professor on medical leave. Given 4 days notice to start teaching, stepped in seamlessly. Created and gave lectures, designed new virtual labs for sedimentology, and created virtual field training and exercises for the field class. Reviews included: ‘Thank you for being a great teacher’.
  • Exxonmobil
Geoscientist - Brazil Sergipe Operations Team
    Exxonmobil Nov 2018 - Feb 2021
Seismic interpreter for lead identification and prospect maturation in the Sergipe deepwater basin. Incorporated deepwater clastic stratigraphy background with 3D visualization techniques using spectral decomposition (Geoteric), color blending, and Paleoscan horizon-based interpretation. Screened the entire ~8000 km2 3D seismic area, identifying >30 potential leads, predominantly strat trap and combination traps. High-graded 10 of these and acted as lead interpreter for Steelhead lead. Completed probabilistic assessment, scrutinized seal risk, analyzed DHI/AVO/AB cross plots, and performed detailed seismic and stratigraphic interpretation of channel connections and erosion to explain potential hydrocarbon response.Evaluated basin play fairways and remaining play potential. Removed 100's of km2 from consideration for reservoir emplacement: Examined deepwater current deposition in the Paleozoic/Mesozoic to determine influence of ocean bottom current shale deposition (contourite formation) on reservoir or seal potential. Identified complex topography created by these currents that may assist with trap development.Tied drilled wells (12) to new 3D seismic data and determined expected seismic response of reservoir vs shales using FE analysis, seismic attributes, and quantitative + qualitative seismic analysis. Identified expected DHI response.
  • Exxonmobil
Geoscientist - Stratigraphic Trap Exploration And Prediction Team
    Exxonmobil Aug 2016 - Oct 2018
Designed integrative exploration workflows to facilitate the search for, identification, and characterization of clastic stratigraphic traps in deepwater EODs (primarily circum-Atlantic). Analyzed well penetrations, geophysics, basin history, and regional history to identify 12 diagnostic play and prospect observations valuable in predicting strat trap formation.Instructed 2-day interactive workshop to >100 geoscientists in Houston, London, and virtually, identifying potential locations to search for strat traps to help ExxonMobil drill additional discoveries in Guyana / Suriname and acquire exploration acreage in Brazil (Sergipe basin), Namibia, and Mauritania
  • Exxonmobil
Geoscientist - Subsurface Interpretation And Petrel Uptake Team
    Exxonmobil Jul 2015 - Jul 2016
Taught >80 geoscientists courses in seismic interpretation and visualization, structural interpretation, and well planning. Seismic interpreter and technology consultant to the Business Units. Using multiple vendor softwares (Paleoscan, Geoteric, VoxelGeo, ArcGIS, VIS, Petrel) and internal proprietary technologies to develop workflows and completed seismic interpretation, reservoir connectivity, and deepwater stratigraphic projects for Angola, Black Sea, and W Africa business units.
  • Exxonmobil
Research Geologist - Black Sea Collaborative, Stratigraphy Research Team
    Exxonmobil Jan 2014 - Jun 2015
Detailed seismic stratigraphic mapping of 6 Danube River basin floor fans using using 3D and regional 2D seismic surveys. Used modern fan and recent sequences (last sea level lowstand, ~20,000 yrs ago) to create a model of fan architecture, specific to the Danube fan, then used this as an analog for EOD and sand distribution in ancient fans including 10 exploration targets. Coordinated with interdisciplinary teams in Houston and England to propose 5 drillwell location decisions.Showcased ability of geophysical software and techniques to aid in visualization of stratigraphic concepts: leveraged Paleoscan to flatten seismic data and review exploration leads in context with analog model built in first phase of project.
