Jean Lepore is the Past President of Pink Aid, a Connecticut grants-based organization providing funds for uninsured and underinsured women undergoing diagnostic testing and treatment for breast cancer in Connecticut and Long island. Pink Aid grants support established hospital foundations, national non-profits, and grass roots organizations. that provide screening, education, patient support, wigs, recovery garments and transportation. Pink Aid's Pink Purse Initiative provides direct financial assistance to women during treatment to cover critical non-medical expenses such as food cards, household utility bills, childcare and rent. Jean began her career in Oncology Nursing and Clinical Research at Tufts/New England Medical Center in Boston and studied Advanced Oncology Nursing at The University of Pennsylvania. Following graduate school, she completed a Fellowship in Pain & Symptom Management at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and contributed to the development of the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale for utilization with ovarian cancer patients. During her years at MSKCC, she participated in pain and symptom research, analgesic medication trials and wrote abstracts and papers for publication in the fields of Pain & Palliative Care and Oncology Nursing.
