My engineering background combined with my communication and writing skills enables me to convey complicated technical ideas to a broad audience. Another area I am passionate about is employee communications—in particular, change management. Change is inevitable and necessary, but can be very disruptive, and robbed of its intended positive effects by poor management. Communicating with and involving stakeholders throughout the change process is key. As humans, we tend to shy away from communicating "bad news." But there are many positive reasons for organized change (why else would we be doing it?) Change provides many opportunities. Communicating the cup half-full side and enabling employees to seize on new opportunities can turn a potentially painful and unsuccessful change effort into the vision that motivated it in the first place.
