Food has always been the main ingredient of my passion. Beginning with my degree in Business French/Marketing, I've continually explored gastronomy: the world's cuisines, health and wellness, and community.Most recently, I became a Certified Cheese Professional through the American Cheese Society, the leader in promoting and supporting American cheeses.Upon my marriage to a third generation farmer, I quickly learned the importance of sustainable practices, diversification and introduction into the local market as an agritourism brand.Working side by side with my husband's family, we've grown Johnson Farms into a recognizable leader in both the greenhouse category and the local farm produce movement over the last 17 years. My biggest contribution at our location has been in human resource management, marketing endeavors and customer relations. Because we are a small business, I've had creative license to craft the story about who we are and our mission: mindful of the environment, passionate about healthy, sustainable living, and all the while offering beauty for the home at affordable prices.In that position, I purposefully reached out into the community through our Johnson Farms brand representing wellness ideas, our homegrown products and creating community in our South Kansas City locale. Through collaborations with Kansas City Star's Middle of the Map Fest, After the Harvest gleaning non profit, KC Healthy Kids, Slow Money, Slow Food, and Truman Medical Center's Healthy Harvest Market, I gained invaluable knowledge about our local market's present, and future strengths and weaknesses. We are committed to sharing the lead with these enterprises in Kansas City's quest for sustainable food production.My goals were achieved: to bring good food, good health and build community around our local brand, ultimately to the global good.I resigned in 2023 to pursue other passions where my managerial talents can be best utilized for the common good.
