National Science Foundation (NSF) Science and Technology Center on Materials and Devices for Information Technology Research (CMDITR; DMR-0120967)• Directed NSF-funded STC, formed in 2002, led by the University of Washington with partners: University of Arizona, Georgia Tech, Cal Tech, University of Central Florida, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Cornell University, New Mexico Highlands University and Norfolk State University.• Managed an NSF cooperative agreement with an annual budget of approximately $5M and 250 Center personnel (faculty, staff, students and postdocs).• Scheduled and oversaw large events as part of the Center’s operations, including annual retreats, NSF site visits, and External Advisory Council meetings.• Organized and ran the national NSF STC Directors Meeting in Arlington, VA (Aug 30-Sep 2, 2010).• Provided service to the broader University of Washington community, including leadership on the UW Professional Staff Organization Board (2008-10; 2010-11 as Vice President); ex officio member of various faculty councils; participant in UW diversity initiatives: Graduate Opportunities and Minority Achievement Program (GO-MAP), UW Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE), and the Pacific Northwest Louis-Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP); and Combined Fund Drive departmental coordinator (2010-11) .• Managed projects using formal training in project management and skills obtained from UW Professional and Organizational Development’s Strategic Leadership Program.• Nominated for Distinguished Staff Award, University of Washington, 2010.

Disciplinary focus: biology, biotechnology and interdisciplinary topics.• Managed an active award portfolio of $21 million (as of July 2005).• Educated the national community through outreach visits to diverse universities, two-year colleges, tribal colleges and scientific and educational conferences. • Adapted grant programs to national trends in teaching and learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
