After a long, successful career in journalism (including almost 20 years as a feature writer and editor at Florida's largest newspaper), I shifted gears in midlife to enter the field of mental health. The same skills I used as an award-winning reporter and keen observer of the human experience are now put to use in helping people meet challenges and restore balance in their lives. My areas of clinical interest include grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, aging, and life transitions. I have post-graduate training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I'm also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and hold a certificate in Clinical Ecotherapy. As a nature-based therapist, I often ply my trade outdoors: both individual counseling sessions and group workshops, all with a focus on the healing qualities of mindfulness practice in the natural world. I'm also the author of a hybrid memoir about trauma and disability, "Good Eye, Bad Eye: A Memoir of Trauma and Truth," which is available on Amazon.
