The patients we serviced were residents of assisted living facilities throughout the state of Florida. As a verification pharmacist I inspected and scanned bubble cards, cassettes and mail order prescriptions for accuracy and prepared non-sterile compound medications logging them accordingly. I examined oral syringes containing controlled substances for preciseness and checked prefilled bubble cards for future dispensing. I scanned approximately 700 to 900 bubble cards per day in this fast paced environment.

I provided patients with prescription drug counseling and over-the-counter recommendations which increased customer loyalty. I resolved patient issues and complaints in a caring professional manner. In addition to assisting the pharmacy manager with the daily operations of the pharmacy department, my main focus was to accurately fill prescriptions. This included checking prescriptions for dosage, drug interactions, therapeutic duplication and drug allergies prior to dispensing and verifying any discrepancies with physician or medical office and documenting the correspondence. I utilized the company best practice guidelines to confirm that the correct drug was dispensed. I participated in continuous quality improvement (CQI) quarterly meetings with the pharmacy manager and technicians to minimize prescription errors and optimize workflow.
