I am a patient-focused and compassionate MSN-educated RN with experience in a variety of medical settings. I currently work as a OB Nurse Educator at an independent OB-GYN physician's office, but the first 14 years of my career I worked as a bedside nurse at large, busy city hospitals. Most of my bedside career was dedicated to postpartum/newborn care, but my first 3 years were in an LTAC hospital gaining experience in critical care, cardiac/telemetry, and med/surg. I am adept at utilizing holistic care, interprofessional communication, and the nursing process to ensure the best patient outcomes. Patient education is a passion, especially related to maternal and infant health outcomes. I currently work to increase the overall health literacy of our expectant patients by curating patient education materials to appeal to a variety of learners, including printed materials, classes, and an educational YouTube channel dedicated to perinatal education. I also conduct individualized one-on-one education visits with all of the expectant patients to not only educate them on what to expect for prenatal care, but also to identify any SDOH risk factors and help them find available resources. I have very strong written and verbal communication skills. After years of working in busy hospitals with high-acuity patients, I am also an innovative thinker and problem-solver with the patient as my primary care obligation. I am adept at developing trust with my patients, as well as communicating education in an effective and appropriate manner for all patients with respect and consideration for their current level of knowledge or education.
