Since 2011, I've worked with The Capstone Group, a full-service public affairs and government relations firm located in Denver, Colorado that brings significant bipartisan relationships, proven experience, and knowledge of past and present policy to the table. I take the lead on behalf of a number of Capstone clients focusing on issues of historic preservation, business/regulatory policy and rural economic development, grassroots organizing in support of education policies, human services, and mental health. My successes include: Building statewide support for the reauthorization of Colorado’s Commercial and Residential Historic Preservation Credit which the legislature voted to continue for ten additional years; Working closely with OSPB, JBC staff, and JBC members to develop and secure initial and ongoing funding for state programs such as SafeCare and the Child Welfare Training System within the Colorado Department of Human Services. Also, partnered with JBC members to strike a budget footnote that arbitrarily capped the number of driver’s licenses for undocumented individuals at 66,000 documents issued; Drafting and passing legislation to develop an appropriate model of continuing education for psychologists in the state and authorizing Colorado psychologists to join an intrastate compact allowing them to practice telehealth across state lines; Navigating and leading a diverse set of stakeholders to develop compromise on the continuation of the Colorado Fair Debt Collections Practice Act; Designing media opportunities for clients such as scheduling a tour of a recently rehabilitated historic building in New Castle with the state legislator and county commissioners that represent the area. The event resulted in a front-page story in the Post Independent; Securing positions for clients on working groups, Commissions and Boards. I've also managed The Capstone Group intern program, hiring, training, and supervising 5-7 interns each legislative session.
