Worked on Galley Inserts in designing new products and improving the reliability of existing products. Projects include:Root Cause Analysis - Identified and was able to recreate a previously irreplicable failure mode and came up with solutions fix the flaw. This prevented an emergency mass removal of products from aircraft.Simulation for PIL Testing - Designed an experiment to capture comprehensive data on subsystems of a product, and then used the data to create an accurate simulation of the subsystems in Simulink. Assisted in integrating the simulations into PIL testing, allowing for significant reliability improvements to product software.Data Collection - Created a Python app with the Kivy framework to collect and parse serial data from products during testing and save it to a .csv for rapid analysis. The app has saved dozens of engineering hours in only a few months as it has allowed for more granular data of what the unit "sees" during testing. Has also allowed the team to compare what the unit sees to reality in order to spot discrepancies that can lead to failures.Predictive Maintenance - Designed an Accelerated Life Test to capture data on a unit and used that data to build a proof of concept model predicting approximate time to failure within 10% of total life. Proved out the potential for using a software-only retrofit solution, as opposed to a more costly hardware solution.Data Mining, Analysis, and Visualization - Regularly comb through repair logs, history logs, test data, etc. and provide insight with complex and interactive visualizations.
