Repeated blows to the head can have devastating short and long-term effects for athletes. As a sales representative for Guardian Caps, I am working to soften those blows. By speaking with and presenting to coaches, athletic directors, booster clubs, parents, and potential corporate donors, I am working to get our impact reducing, external gel pads on as many players as possible. An exciting new product released in June of 2012, the Guardian Cap is a soft urethane/gel pad easily attached to football helmets for practice - where the majority of head injuries occur. Tests done at Penn State, Wayne State, and Oregon Universities have shown the Guardian Cap reduces HIC (Head Impact Criteria) by up to 33%. Additionally, Guardian Caps help to protect the arms, hands, finger, knees, shins, etc. often injured by contact with hard-shell helmets.
