Prototyped rapid capture blackbox monitoring infrastructure capable of meeting ServiceNow's unique multi-tenant, high-cardinality observability challenges. Led technical relief on behalf of SRE on several high-impact bridges.

Supported the MACBIS program within CMS at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Developed wins for the government and taxpayer around AWS utilization at a program level. Worked closely with government counterparties and several contractors to address strategic risk, cloud oversight, compliance, and governance. On the corporate side, anticipated a robust CMMC certification market; developed a strong strategy to position NewWave as a highly-automated, day-one 3PAO before the guidelines had even been drafted by DoD. Departed as the MACBIS contract was not renewed for competitive reasons.

Supported multi-tenant installations of ForgeRock's identity platform in Google Cloud Platform. Learned an incredible amount about AAA technologies and integrations. Continued personal growth in hands-on analysis, providing useful reporting on infrastructure and financial considerations.

Focused on observability and monitoring of the since-shuttered OpenStack private cloud product. Performed enough operational analysis and reporting to basically identify as a data scientist, though with a loose understanding of things like "statistics" and "integers" and "subtraction". As Rackspace was beginning to embrace the SRE title at the time, leveraged personal experience to write and publish a complete SRE hiring guide for interviewers on the team to help establish culture (see attached media).

Returned to Apple Maps. Discovered that Apple had built an entire team around my "temporary" proxy, learning a valuable career lesson for SRE. Later asked to participate in a strategic overhaul of Apple-wide datacenter hardware ordering processes as the SRE expert. Contributed significant financial and infrastructural reporting and technical insight as procurement strategy was analyzed and refined. Learned analysis methods on the fly, beginning a path toward being half a data scientist.

First exposure to senior-level responsibility working on Apple Maps. Built, shipped, and supported many things; proudest of Railgun, a UDT-based system to distribute large volumes of geographical data to Apple Maps datacenters around the world on extremely frequent cadences. Successfully built a complete, but temporary, Golang HTTP forward and reverse proxy from scratch in a weekend, in order to save a WWDC keynote presentation taking place on a Monday. Helped shepherd design, procurement, and deployment of GIS editing systems necessary to refine Apple Maps from launch experience to that of today.

Introduced to the formal title of SRE and the valley while supporting a medium-high scale AWS account at the height of the game app's popularity. Shipped several systems, including an automated MongoDB vacuum system, because that was a thing needed to run MongoDB safely once upon a time. Built and integrated a parallel image service infrastructure to speed up page loads considerably. Was on-call for the Java 2012 leap second disaster and recovered Foursquare systems from an Olive Garden parking lot.

Started a valley journey in southern New Jersey hacking on Adobe ColdFusion. Operated as a proto-SRE despite not yet being familiar with the title nor principles. Built and shipped several significant projects across a diverse spectrum: fast DDoS identification via SNMP, the first version of the official Linode iOS app (learning Objective-C to build it), a netboot provisioning system written in bash. Served as product backend lead on NodeBalancer, utilizing the Linux-HA/Corosync suite to provide highly-available HAProxy. Supported a physical Xen, and eventually KVM, deployment, learning DCIM and Linux administration at scale.
