As part of my mandatory national service, a duty all Korean males must fulfill, I have been accepted into the Republic of Korea Marine Corps to specialize in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense. This prestigious role requires rigorous training and a high level of responsibility in defending against CBRN threats.To meet this obligation, I took an interruption from my studies at King's College London.The journey begins with 7 weeks of intense basic training at the Pohang Marine Corps Recruit Training Center. During this phase, recruits are trained in essential military skills, physical conditioning, and teamwork, which form the foundation of Marine Corps service.Upon completion of basic training, I will serve for 1 year and 4 months in my assigned unit, where I will focus on developing expertise in CBRN defense. This specialized training includes handling CBRN materials, conducting decontamination procedures, and executing defensive measures to protect personnel and infrastructure from CBRN threats.
