I specialize in restoration ecology, having academic and work experience in the fields of vegetation and soil biology, and is experienced in design, logistics, implementation and reporting for terrestrial surveys. I have strong botany skills and extensive ecological typing/classification experience for the rangelands of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, and in the northern boreal regions and coastal and inland BC forests. My key areas of experience are plant identification, soil science, and ecological classification, including TEM and ELC.I entered consulting as a vegetation ecologist, primarily focusing on rare plants and rare plant community surveys. My interest transitioned toward wider ecosystem dynamics and plant-soil interactions, particularly as they pertain to restoration ecology. I returned to school after five years as a consultant to focus on this area of interest, and recently received my M.Sc. in Forest Sciences from the University of British Columbia. My thesis research explores the effects of different vegetation treatments on organic matter accumulation in the reclamation soils of the Athabasca Oil Sands, focusing on restoration ecology, and the biogeochemistry of minesite restoration.
