A mechanical engineer working in an environment of compressed air, gas, steam and water distribution throughout the Whyalla Integrated Steelworks serviced by boilers and in house power generation. Functions involve maintenance of infrastructure and structures to deliver services to meet the production requirements of the business. Maintaining a plant that has equipment dating from 1940 and has had upgrades to continue operating into 2030 and beyond.

BMD upgraded the Waste Stabilisation Ponds at the Power and Water Corporation's Leanyer waste water treatment plant. This was an upgrade to an existing plant. The works comprised an addition of lift well pumps, elevated works structure, band screens, grit removal and odour removal. The position covered the management of the design prior to construction and selection of equipment for the plant. The value of the project is $14M and completion was December 2018.

Project Engineer for the installation of a 1 Megawatt Solar PV Power station for the BMD Conergy JV on behalf of the Power and Water Corporation. The Project objective is to use Solar PV power to reduce the consumption of diesel from the diesel generators.The work involved the assembly of a trial demonstration PV set for approval by PWC. Then the installation on site of micropiles to support the PV Panel Structures, pv panels, cable strings, inverters, lv cables, marshalling boxes, and an lv switchboard.Completion of the project was September 2017Value of Project $3.5 M

Co-ordination of Electrical Supply, Fibre Optic Communication, Services and structures as part of BMD's preparation of the land based facility for the V.I.C.T. Project at Webb Dock Terminal in Melbourne Victoria. The Terminal is one of 5 automated container terminals in the world and is a world class project. The Terminal is designed to handle 1,000,000 containers per annum.The Project involves the preparation of the existing site for the storage and handling of containers with reticulation of 11 kV and 415 V power throughout the terminal to operate automated shipping container cranes, ship to shore cranes and to substations for the powering of reefer containers and area lighting. Preparation of tenders for national industrial projects for the Industrial Division working from BMD's West End Office in Brisbane.

The project involved the installation of 90 km of poly pipe, stainless steel and carbon steel pipe 50 mm to 630 mm, 15 pump stations, electrical power reticulation, switchrooms, a Potable Water Treatment Plant and 7 water tanks as support infrastructure for the BMA open cut coal minesite. Installation of equipment up to handover for commissioning. The position was responsible for procurement, testing and installation of mechanical equipment and collection of construction data for preparation of MDR's for handover to client.Value of project $50M +.

Installation of Effluent and Influent pipes, pumps and dosing system for the increase in treatment capacity of the Ludmilla WWTP. This work was carried out on the Power and Water NT site of an operating plant. Value of Project was $17.0 M.

Installation of surface infrastructure for the Ulan Xstrata Coal Mine. This was a project that was commenced as a greenfield site and progressed to a Brownfield construction as coal mining commenced. Installed 4 x water tanks of 1.5 Megalitre capacity each, 1 x 250 K litre Potable water tank and a raw water tank. The reticulation from the tanks to the 4 x pump skids then to the surface and underground facilities were supplied to alow mining to commence. The electrical facilities included an 11kV RMU, 2 x switch room facilities, area lighting, a vehicle servicing bay and a diesel fuel tank storage and pumping facility. The position was to provide engineering solutions to achieve the installation of equipment, preparation of JHA's, preparation of permits to work, liaise with the electrical subcontract to co-ordinate construction and preparation of QA for hand over to the client.Responsible for commissioning of equipment and handover to clientValue of project $10M +.

Construction of Sydney Malting Plant. Assisted in the monitoring of site progress and maintenance of ongoing construction schedule on Microsoft Project used for reporting to Joe White Malting Construction review committee. The Project involved liaising with BMD subcontractors and works undertaken by BMD. The majority of the onsite equipment was supplied by the client. Involved in preparation of installation check documents prior to handing over for commissioning.This was a greenfields site.Value of project $100M +.

Installation of 15km of hdpe lined carbon steel pipeline from the pump house to the new tailings dam at the Olympic Dam Mine Site. The pipelines were flanged and each flange was assembled using a multi stud tensioning machine and excavator using vacuum lifters. All materials for the project were Client supplied. Position involved preparation of engineering solutions to streamline installation, compilation of records for quality assurance and preparation of OH& S documents to progress the project. The project was on a brown field site.Value of project $4M +.

Position reported to the Proprietor. Responsibilities of the position were allocation of labour for day to day and major shutdowns maintenance at Onesteel's Whyalla Steelworks and minesite, Port Augusta Power Station and Nyrstar's Port Pirie Smelter. Involved in estimating, project cost collection, design, procurement, production of JHA's and construction on major projects. Workforce 150 -200 personnel.

Position was involved in the provision of plant maintenance, control and management of sub-contractors to allow optimum operations of the Coke Ovens coal handling, coke production, coke handling and screening plus by-products and gas production. At DBCT involved in the design and installation of a new ergonomically designed shiploader operators control cabin and oversaw the installation of 3 x new Voith Fluid Scoop Couplings rated at 750 kW each for the 3.5 km main jetty conveyor.
