Software coding projects for various clientsHighlight project:Implemented the new ICD-10 patient-billing coding standard for the client’s group of 16 hospitals. The project consisted of evaluating over 30,000 customized objects within their MedSeries/4 applications for possible modification to the ICD-10 standards. Through a process requiring sound judgment, extensive planning and critical attention to detail, wrote an automated process to determine which customized objects needed to be modified, then of the 1,300 objects that were selected, created and implemented a plan to successfully remediate the designated objects

Oversaw the planning, development, maintenance, and support of iTERA High Availability software that is used to fulfill business requirements for server redundancy on IBM i (System i and iSeries previously). Responsible for maintaining and enhancing software used to bill customers for water consumption, which included designing enhancements based on user requirements and testing all software changes to ensure highly reliable (zero defect) changes.

Started as a programmer responsible for developing and maintaining several MedSeries/4 patient financial applications. Promoted after two years to manage a team of programmers responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of numerous patient financial applications used by hospital chains to control admissions, census, accounts receivable, billing and reimbursement management. After being promoted, continued to develop key components of the software, including an HCFA Grouper that calculates a medical diagnostic group (MDC) and a diagnostic related group (DRG) to determine Medicare reimbursement. Also developed a report writer that allowed end users, not familiar with the database, to create their own reports.
