Barquin's Home Improvement Services is focused on residential construction projects including remodeling of bathrooms & kitchens, installing flooring, custom trim and cabinets. Additionally, I do painting, wood and termite repair and many other home improvement projects. My business has had a consistent flow of profitable projects despite the recession and housing bubble. I provide outstanding customer service and quality of work. As a result, the majority of my business comes from customer referrals. I have cultured solid relationships with a few realtors and other contractors who also refer business. Since 2008 I have completed over 100 projects, from small repairs to large projects as well as kitchen and bath remodeling with minimal rework and near 100% customer satisfaction.

As project manager, I was responsible for the daily operations of multiple utilities projects ranging from $30,000 to $3,000,000 in revenue. I supervised and directed several crews, and foremen as we installed large water, wastewater and storm drain systems. Additionally, I successfully interacted with municipal and private sector customers, suppliers and subcontractors. I also coordinated transportation, maintenance and repair of our heavy equipment. In 2007 and 2008 I implemented a safety training program. It required new hires to complete a one hour course prior to work and all employees to attend daily, weekly and monthly safety meetings. The program resulting greater employee awareness with zero lost-time injuries.

MSP supplies large pumping and trench shoring systems to utility contractors. I was responsible for all rentals, sales and projects in my assigned territory from lead generation and quoting to equipment delivery, set-up and final billing. Additional responsibilities often included maintenance of field equipment. I configured and implemented large wastewater bypass pumping system for Public Works Commission (PWC) of Fayetteville, NC during treatment plant upgrades. The job often required “out of the box” thinking, with which I helped Crowder Construction solve a water clarity problem. We used a special pumping system incorporating a “flocculation” process to reduce environmental impact on a river during a bridge/dam reconstruction project. During my tenure with MSP, I grew solid relationships with key customers and consistently generated $50k to $70K of the branch’s $100k average monthly revenue.

In this position I developed sales leads, estimated and quoted projects as well as managed projects and crews during construction. This required daily contact with customers and vendors and labor crews. We ran projects from small home repairs to large residential remodeling jobs.

After my layoff from All American during the post 9-11 recession, I started a home improvementbusiness and turned profit in first year. During this time, I occasionally sub-contracted to Allgard until we eventually merged.

In 1991 after leaving the Police department and working briefly in construction, I began working in the electronics industry as a ware house clerk and administrative assistant. I eventually worked my way up to sales and product management positions.All American, (Raleigh, NC) as a product marketing manager, I grew sales, increased profit and market share in 7 out of 10 key lines despite downturn in 2001 economy.Wyle EMG. (Santa Clara, CA), as a Program manager,I was responsible for several turn key projects. I helped major customer lower defective inventory by over 75% while improving production yields and manufacturing through-put, by developing and implementing a preventative maintenance program. Due to outstanding performance, managing this turnkey account, we won a $6m contract away from competitor.

Union City is a medium sized department which at the time had 60 sworn officers.The city has a diverse culture and socio-economic mix which presented many challenges for police. As a regular patrol officer, I often responded to calls of gang violence,domestic violence, substance abuse and drug trafficking. I routinely apprehended suspects under the influence of PCP, Heroin, Cocaine and alcohol. In addition to traffic citations, DUI arrests and initial crime scene investigations, I participated in several fast entry, felony warrant raids and arrests. During high profile abduction case of Michaela Garrett, in Hayward, CA, I participated as a member of the initial search team. I also performed traffic control / perimeter security during Hillary Clinton’s visit in Union City in lieu of her husband’s Presidential campaign.
