In 2015, Jeff Barry formed Geomorphic Solutions, an ISNetworld member company. Dr. Barry is a fluvial geomorphologist specializing in evaluating hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes within river systems, with a particular focus on the risks flood related forces represent to oil and gas pipelines. In his role as technical lead, Dr. Barry works closely with oil and gas clients in the United States and Canada, as well as internationally across Europe and Asia to develop and refine integrity management plans and programs. Dr. Barry has led the assessment and evaluation of flood related risks at thousands of water crossings along tens of thousands of miles of pipeline from both desktop assessments and in the field. For pipeline water crossings at significant risk from flood related forces, Dr. Barry assists clients in prioritizing and implementing monitoring and/or mitigation plans to reduce and manage risk. Dr. Barry has presented at a variety of conferences sponsored by the American Petroleum Institute, the International Pipeline Conference, and the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association, discussing pipeline integrity and risks from natural forces.

Dr. Barry is a water resource engineer/hydrologist, specializing in fluvial geomorphology and numerical modeling of riverine and coastal hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes. In this capacity he has led teams both domestically and internationally on a variety of projects focusing on watershed hydrology and land-use impacts, the fate and transport of contaminated sediments and management of contaminated sediment sites, dam removal studies, assessment of risks associated with channel migration, channel erosion/scour and the design, maintenance or restoration of stream channels and waterways for water conveyance, water quality, aquatic habitat, and recreational purposes. In addition, Dr. Barry has evaluated the potential water quality impacts of both non-point and point sources throughout North America and has assisted in design and management alternatives to mitigate those potential impacts. He has designed and implemented channel remediation and restoration designs worldwide and is an expert in fluvial geomorphology whose contributions to the field of sediment bed load transport processes are widely recognized. Dr. Barry has published numerous papers and presented at conferences on new methods for predicting sediment transport rates and channel forming discharges and evaluating the impact of land-use on stream systems and aquatic habitat.
