Jeff has been working in the diagnostics industry for 40 years. He began working as a Medical Technologist in 1983 for Animal Disease Division of the Oregon Department of Agriculture. There he participated in the development of novel ELISA technology to detect pathogens in livestock. In 1987, Jeff became a member of the microbiology development team at Syva Company in Palo Alto, CA developing immunoassays against human pathogens. His contributions enabled the successful launch of two FDA approved EIA's for Chlamydia and Hepatitis A. Upon joining Epitope Inc. in 1992, Jeff became a senior member of the R & D staff and for 5 years participated in the development of a number of new and unique assay technologies, primarily focusing on the detection of analytes in saliva. In 1997, he joined AFem Medical Corp. in Portland, OR. Jeff, and his staff of 5 scientists, performed contract R & D in the field of rapid lateral-flow tests and additionally developed a patented rapid assay for a nicotine metabolite in saliva. BioDot, recognizing Jeff's experience and knowledge base in the diagnostics industry, recruited him to help lead their revolutionary One Step... One Solution technology program. Jeff was a founder and VP of Technology for Diagnostic Consulting Network (DCN Diagnostics) in 2003 prior to founding Kestrel BioSciences in June of 2008. Kestrel BioSciences is a leader in lateral-flow assay and Point-of-Care technologies for low resource environments, with R & D and production facilities in Bangkok, Thailand and Carlsbad CA, USA. In 2017 Kestrel BioSciences USA was acquired by Planet Innovation Pty Ltd. and re-branded Lumos Diagnostics where Jeff served as the VP of Business & Product Development.
