Thursday Island Hospital

Responsible for the planning and implementation of the new Tuberculosis (TB) Control Unit servicing the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula region of Far North Queensland. Funding for the unit was provided in late 2015 and I was brought onboard to get the unit operational from scratch within two months. - Creation of a brand new unit designed to service the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area.- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders with regards to building fit outs, medical equipment requirements, hr issues.- Retrieving and transfer of historical data held in the existing TB Control Unit located in Cairns.- Setting up working relations with the existing unit.- Planning and monitoring of unit progress.- Recruitment and hiring of key personnel.- Managing key aspects of unit creation against an extremely tight deadline.- Creation of database from scratch for use by medical staff within the unit.I was brought onboard to set up a new unit servicing the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area of Queensland. I was given 2 months leading in to Christmas to bring the unit from a non entity to fully operational.

Iraq

Responsible for 10 national 8 man teams which carry out seismic BAC operations in the West Qurna region of southern Iraq. Teams are responsible for investigation, identification and reporting of all UXO found whilst conducting seismic clearance. Identification of ordnance deemed safe to move, and RSP of items as required. Responsible for clearance of seismic lanes as directed, planning and executing clearance operations, and the operational, logistical and personnel management of teams assigned. Reports to the Project Manager.• Liaise as required with military and police units assigned to clearance operations.• Arrange assistance with Liaison Officers as necessary.• Plan and undertake all aspects of setting up, marking out and conducting Seismic BAC tasks as assigned by the Project Manager in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).• Conduct daily site safety, mine clearance plan, OH&S briefings. Conduct visitors safety briefings as required.• In consultation with the Medic, plan the MEDEVAC procedures for each task and each new operational area.• Provide complete survey reports and maps, in accordance with Implementation Plan and SOPs, to the Project Manager.• Provide daily and completion reports, as required, to the Project Manager.• Service and maintain all vehicles and survey equipment.• Manage team finances and provide complete records for accounting purposes.• Support the development of the team members and provide personal reporting as required.• Compile all reports in the format as dictated by the client reporting requirements and provide to the Project Manager as required. • Supervise and provide technical expertise to visual and detector search of affected area.• Conduct Render Safe Procedures (RSP) as required. • Set up of bulk demolitions at a Central Demolition Site (CDS) as required for disposal by the Iraqi Army.• Perform the duties of the Operations Manager as required for leave relief.

Afghanistan

Responsible for oversight and management of all operations being conducted by G4S OM in Afghanistan. Management of personnel, stores, budgeting and operational issues as required. Oversee the reconnaissance and reporting of all bids for potential future work. Assist the Country and Area Managers. Reports to the Country Manager.• Obtain all necessary clearances from the Afghanistan Mine Action Centre.• Liaise with all relevant stakeholders in mine clearance operations.• Conduct random QA / QC checks on operations being conducted.• Provide assistance and advice to de-mining personnel on all aspects of mine clearance and BAC operations.• Ensure all work carried out is IAW company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and National Technical Safety Guidelines (NTSG).• Provide a weekly and monthly SITREP to the Country Manager.• Fill in for in country Technical Advisors as required for leave coverage.• Provide assistance and advice for US Army EOD teams.• Support the development of the team members and provide personal reporting as required.• Compile all reports in the format as dictated by the Tasking Dossier and Implementation plan. • Use of Minelab F3 and Schonstadt detectors.• Keep local population informed and ensure safety controls in place whilst working in the immediate an area.• General Mine Action Assessment and Land Release.• Any other task as directed by the Country Manager.• Managing resource allocation.• Perform duties of the Country Manager as required for leave relief.

Afghanistan

Responsible for supervision of 19 x 10 man de-mining teams utilising a combination of manual and mechanical assets on Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan conducting de-mining and BAC operations. Provide advice, assistance and mentoring for Team Leaders and liaison between G4S OM and ECC and USACE personnel. Responsible for producing all dangerous area clearance plans, risk assessments and projections for future clearance. Perform the role of the Project Manager as required. Reports to the Project Manager.• Obtain all necessary clearances from the United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) liaisons.• Provide on field guidance and assistance to ECC and USACE personnel.• Oversee and advise on all aspects of setting up, marking out and conducting demining tasks in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and National Technical Safety Guidelines (NTSG).• Conduct daily site safety, mine clearance plan and visitors safety briefings.• Provide on field guidance and assistance in identification and classification of ordnance found during clearance procedures.• Identify and remove all items that are safe to move. • Provide assistance and advice for US Army EOD teams.• In consultation with the Medic, plan the MEDEVAC procedures for each survey task.• Plan and implement all recovery and accident drills and procedures for the, Armtrac A400 Mine Clearance Vehicles.• Oversee all clearance activities; ensuring safety standards are being adhered to as laid down by the USACE. • Liaise with units from the USACE sent to provide heavy mechanical support to mine clearance operations.• Provide a daily and weekly SITREP to the Project Manager.• Support the development of the team members and provide personal reporting as required.• Conduct internal QA and QC reporting.

South Sudan

Responsible for Supervision of Integrated clearance teams using a combination of mechanical and manual demining, and mine detection dogs for clearance of a large minefield in the Aswa region of South Sudan. Tasks to oversee the whole operation and provide assistance and advice for relevant Team Leaders. Reports to the Operations Officer.• Obtain all necessary clearances from military and local authorities in an area.• Arrange assistance with Liaison Officers as necessary.• Oversee and advise on all aspects of setting up, marking out and conducting demining tasks as directed by the Operations Officer in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and National Technical Safety Guidelines (NTSG).• Conduct daily site safety, mine clearance plan, demolitions and visitors safety briefings.• In consultation with the Medic, plan the MEDEVAC procedures for each survey task.• Plan and implement all recovery and accident drills and procedures for the Mini Minewolf, Armtrac A400 and Armtrac A100 Mine Clearance Vehicles.• Supervise and implement the use of Mine Detection Dogs for clearance and QC tasks on the mine clearance site.• Provide complete survey reports and maps, in accordance with Task Dossier, Implementation Plan and SOPs, to the Operations Officer.• Provide daily and weekly SITREP to the Operations Officer.• Service and maintain all vehicles and survey equipment.• Manage team finances and provide complete records for accounting purposes.• Support the development of the team members and provide personal reporting as required.• Compile all reports in the format as dictated by the Tasking Dossier and Implementation plan. • Plan and implement all Mechanical, Mine Detection Dogs and Manual visual and detector search of affected area. Democratic Republic Of The Congo

Responsible for a national 9 man team which carried out EOD and BAC operations in the Gemena district of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Investigating, finding and destroying UXO and stockpiles found during the investigations. Responsible for undertaking clearance and disposal tasks and the operational, logistical and personnel management of the team. Reports to the Technical Operations Manager.• Obtain all necessary clearances from military and local authorities in an area.• Arrange assistance with Liaison Officers as necessary.• Before entering a new area for BAC tasks, collect and study any information from the Mine Action Office and other NGO’s on the mine and security situation in the area.• Plan and undertake all aspects of setting up, marking out and conducting BAC tasks as directed by the Technical Operations Manager in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and National Technical Safety Guidelines (NTSG).• Conduct daily site safety, mine clearance plan, demolitions and visitors safety briefings.• In consultation with the Medic, plan the MEDEVAC procedures for each task and each new operational area.• Provide complete survey reports and maps, in accordance with Task Dossier, Implementation Plan and SOPs, to the Technical Operations Manager.• Manage team finances and provide complete records for accounting purposes.• Support the development of the team members and provide personal reporting as required.• Compile all reports in the format as dictated by the Tasking Dossier and Implementation plan for MAG as well as relevant donors. • Visual and detector search of affected area. South Sudan

Sydney, Australia

Over the course of 18 years was employed in various roles which included, but were not limited to, the following responsibilities:• Ships safety inside the minefield and directing ships operators accordingly.• Coordinate and Instruct Mine Warfare training.• Operating the Combat Data System including sensor equipment such as Mine Hunting Classification/Detection Sonars. Was involved in the operation of remotely controlled under water Mine Disposal Vehicles.• Management of personnel including: task allocation, training and mentoring, performance management and personal administration.• Explosive custodian for the Mine Warfare Geospatial Deployable Systems Team. Ensuring correct storage and accountability for all Explosive Ordnance held by the unit.• Manage major ship activities, such as: berthing ships alongside, rigging for refueling and stores transfer at sea, towing other vessels and launching/recovering ships boats.• Attend ‘Heads of Department’ planning meetings, along with senior specialist sailors from other departments.• Act as Seamanship and Gunner Department manager.
